Gym Class Heroes - Upcoming Album - The Quilt - Gym Class Heroes

One of the Ordinary Joes here, and I’m about to give you the scoop on the next Gym Class Heroes album. I’m solo because my friend Ordinary Joe doesn’t really listen to this kind of music.

Gym Class Heroes’ alternative style is one rare in Hip Hop, their use of live bands is one similar to the sounds of N.E.R.D. As you all remember, their certified gold album “As Cruel as School Children”, brought us the smash hits “Cupid’s Chokehold” and “Clothes Off!” Gym Class Heroes were the winners of the 2007 MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist, and were also nominated for the Best Group award.

The Group has dubbed the album “The Quilt”. The album is being produced by Cool & Dre and Patrick Stump (lead singer of FallOut Boy). The album features collaborations with The Dream and Busta Rhymes. It is set for release on September 9th, 2008.

To promote the album’s anticipated release; on July 8th the band released an EP titled “Patches from the Quilt”. The EP hosts three of the songs found on the full length album; “Cookie Jar” (feat. The Dream), “Peace Sign/ Index Down” (feat. Busta Rhymes) and "Blinded By the Sun". The songs on this album are tied into tales of women. Lead singer Travis McCoy tells tales of being a playa and his fight to be faithful. “Innocent” (feat. Estelle) is the story of a man, dealing with a girlfriend’s sometimes justified paranoia “I’m guilty til’ proven innocent”. He also addresses some of their skeptics in this album.

The Ordinary Joe Blog looks forward to a full review of this album when it is debuted.
