Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl – Katy Perry

One of the Ordinary Joes here, with a review of Katy Perry’s controversial single “I Kissed a Girl

I kissed a girl and I liked it, the taste of her cherry chapstick.”

The Billboard Hot 100, chart topping single “I Kissed a Girl” from Katy Perry’s new album “One of the Boys” released on June 17, 2008, is creating much buzz as well as achieving critical success in the Rock genre. “I Kissed a Girl” is also number one on the Canadian Hot 100 and the Australian ARIA charts, it is currently slotted at #4 on worldwide charts.

Katy Perry began her music career as a gospel singer, as well as being born to a mother and father who are both pastors; because of this her latest album is garnering much controversy because of the lyrics and titles of some of the songs on the album “One of the Boys” i.e. “I Kissed a Girl” and “Ur So Gay” as you can imagine conflict with her Christian upbringing. “It felt so wrong, it felt so right”, critics claim that the album which is popular amongst young people and children promotes homosexuality and promiscuity.

It seems Katy bit off a little more than she could chew when she kissed a girl, but by saying what many others were afraid to say this single and this album have boosted her to rock star status.
