New Album – Beyonce – Kanye West – New Album

R&B Singer Beyonce’s third solo album is set for release on November 18th via Music World Music/Columbia. As yet, the album is still untitled. The first two singles “If I were a Boy” and “Sexy Ladies” will be released by radio on October 7th.

Beyonce also co-wrote and/or co-produced all of the material on the album. Justin Timberlake is one of the albums guest singers. Her song “Beautiful Nightmare” that was leaked to the internet earlier this year was produced by Jim Jonsin (the guy behind Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop”). He is said to have also been in the studio with the singer.

Beyonce’s 2006 album “B-Day” that spawned hits like “Irreplaceable” and “Ring the Alarm” has today according to Nielsen SoundScan sold 3.2 million copies in the United States. In my eyes that album will be hard to top or match, I believe she is up to the task though and hopefully won’t let us down.

Kanye West is also set to release his fourth studio album on December 16th of this year.

Years ago, Kanye West had planned to name his fourth album “Good Ass Job” following the college theme of his previous albums, “College Dropout”, “Late Registration” and “Graduation”. I would have preferred that title but Kanye has chosen to name his fourth album “808’s & Heartbreak”.

Upon seeing the title I googled the area-code, assuming that was the meaning. My search led me to Hawaii, and I wondered why he would be rapping about Hawaii. I now know that the 808 is allegedly a reference to the “Roland TR-808” Rhythm Composer. It is a programmable drum machine used in several genres of music.

The album’s first single “Love Lockdown” was brought to the main scene in a flashy performance at the 2008 Video Music Awards. Lyrically the song isn’t the best I’ve heard from West, so hopefully the rest of the album will be hot. The singles will have to stand up to songs as far back as “Diamonds from Sierra Leone” all the way up to “Homecoming”.

Mr. West is also doing some producing for Jay-Z’s upcoming album “Blueprint III”. He released his third album “Graduation” in 2007 and to date it has sold 2.2 million copies in the U.S.
