SearchLady Gaga “Just Dance” Review08th January 2009 ![]() Last year, singer/songwriter Lady Gaga brought a fresh face to the pop rock genre with her debut album “The Fame”. And with her came a certain sexiness, quirky outfits, bleach blonde hair, and fun lyrics. “I’ve had a little bit too much/ All of the people start to rush/ A dizzy twister dance/ Can’t find my drink or man… Just dance!/ Gonna be okay!/ Dada doo doot doot-n/ Just Dance!” Words from the lead single, “Just Dance”, which brought her global recognition in the music industry. The song was downloaded 419,000 times in one week, making it the biggest single week total for a female artist in Nielsen SoundScan history. The song features artist Colby O’donis. Lady Gaga possesses and exhibits an R/B quality voice, with the energy of a pop contender. I find her to be a slightly less raw version of Katy Perry. The official video displays the song’s successful attempt at becoming a dance club anthem, with lots of liquor and partying. Also, the video was directed Melina Matsoukas whom most recently directed Beyonce’s “Diva” video. Gaga was cited as describing the song as follows: “If you've ever been so high that it's, like, scary, the only way you can deal with it is not deal with it, so you just kind of dance through the intoxication.” The song is currently #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 even after 22 weeks of life on the chart.
