The Killers “Human” – Review

Human” the first single from the third studio album, “Day & Age”, of the Las Vegas originating band, The Killers peaked at #32 on the Billboard Hot 100 a little over a week ago. The album is set for release on November 25th.

The Killers

London's Observer newspaper stated that the Killers "may just be the strangest band in America.” Well if strangest is slang for hugest and most comparable to British powerhouses like Keane and Coldplay…I agree.

“Human” was produced by Stuart Price who has also worked with Madonna and Missy Elliot. The band visited him in London where the song was taken to another level close to quality it now has. “My sign is Vital/ My hands are cold/ And I’m on my knees looking for the answer/ Are we Human or are we Dancer?

Some are still confused over whether or not Brandon Flowers is saying Dancer or Denser (which would make more sense to them), however the lyric is in fact Dancer and Island Records has confirmed it.

Flowers says that the song was inspired by a quote by Hunter S. Thompson, “America is raising a generation of dancers,” referring to the fact that dancers follow a pattern and must stick to it, thus smothering Individuality. I found a video on YouTube that does a great job of explaining this.

The sound of the song is truly amazing, the more you listen to it, the more you will love it. Reminiscent of the power of “When You Were Young” and “Mr. Brightside”, “Human” is another epic, synthy and percussion filled rock anthem from The Killers.

Keane Releases "Spiralling"

Keane - Spiralling - Perfect Symmetry - Keane

Keane

One of the Ordinary Joes here, to tell you about one of the greatest english bands i've ever heard, Keane. They have released their first single off their third album entitled “Spiralling”, for free download on their official website www.keanemusic.com until August 11th.

The upcoming album is called “Perfect Symmetry”. I must admit I didn't pay much attention to their sophomore album “Under the Iron Sea”, however it was a big success selling 2.2 million copies worldwide. But, from what I remember of their first album “Hopes and Fears”, with hits like “Somewhere Only We Know” and “Everybody's Changing” that were both top 5 hits on the UK Singles Chart my anticipation is justified. Because of the success of “Hopes and Fears” in 2004, the band was nominated for the Grammy for Best New Artist but ultimately lost to John Legend, they also won two BRIT Awards in 2005 for Best British Album and British Breakthrough Act.

With every album Keane seems to change their style just a bit, attracting more and more fans from a wider spectrum. I downloaded and listened to the song myself, truly amazing. It is sure to have you swaying. “Ooo, Ooo...I'm waiting for my moment to come”. The lyrics range from “Did you wanna be a winner?” to “Did you wanna be in love?”. The lyrics seem to hold some regret but, in them we also find a flicker of hope, “Cold like some magnificant skyline, Out of my reach, But always in my Eyeline now” I'm sure Keane is gonna “rock” the alternative rock world with “Perfect Symmetry” which will be releasd on October 13th.
